Teclast announces C500HD PMP with integrated HDMI-out

July 2nd, 2009

While Zune HD will need an additional accessory to pull off 720p content, Chinese company Teclast has got its C500HD that does the same thing sans any additional accessory. The PMP can play 720p videos on your large HDTVs via the integrated HDMI-out port. Additionally, the PMP takes care of varied multimedia formats including H.264 and includes a 5-inch WVGA screen and 4GB internal storage, which actually makes it impossible for one to store full movies in HD format. Predicting Technological Change

July 1st, 2009

In the last few days I’ve helped many people set up their new iPhones with the campus Exchange server and wireless registration.  I can’t even count how many people I know now that have an iPhone, but they tend to be young, but not always.  I don’t own an iPhone myself, but I do have an iPod touch.  I’m too cheap to own a smart phone, even though I would love to own an iPhone, I won’t allow myself to pay another big monthly communication’s bill.  I’ve been working with computers since 1971, a

July 1st, 2009

French accessories company HOON has teamed up with audio company The Perfect Unison for a line of python skin skinned headphones . The cans are made of nine layers of birch wood, lined with goat skin, and finally covered in the skin of a mighty snake for the ultimate, luxurious audiophile experience. The Walkman turns 30

July 1st, 2009

Thirty years ago, Sony began selling a device which would not be an easy sell today. It was a portable music player with a battery life of around three hours, with which you had to choose the music you wanted to listen to before setting off on your journey, could only play tracks in a set order, and ran a good risk of literally chewing up your media. At the time, though, the launch of Sony’s Walkman was revolutionary: the portable cassette player allowed people to listen to music on the move w

New Pioneer Elite A/V Receivers Produce High Resolution Multi-Channel Sound Quality That Brings Cinematic Entertainment into the Home

July 1st, 2009

Pioneer brings us four new Receivers, and they even include iPhone related features… then again what doesn’t have any iPhone features in it anymore?  I don’t quite get how the iPod and iPhone have got so ingrained into our society… My kids call any mp3 player an iPod, really annoys me when they call my Zune and iPod… Grr.. there are other products out there really, and they’ve been around a lot longer than the iPod… but yet the name ipod is synonymous with MP3 player for some reason.. Raising th

Marantz CD-6003 High-End CD Player with USB Port [Audiophile Earcandy...CDs Aren't Dead Yet?]

July 1st, 2009

If you’re anything like me when it comes to music, you’ve completely embraced the switch from CDs to digital music. Your collection of discs sits, untouched, covered in dust. Does my CD player even work anymore? Believe it or not, CDs are still alive out there, hanging on to what’s left of their reputation for near perfect sound reproduction. While the format may be struggling to draw in what may be its last breath, manufacturers of CD players are still developing new products with the hope of e

Swapping Out My XM Radio for a Zune

June 30th, 2009

I’m a long time XM Radio customer, starting over five years ago with a $9.95/month plan. Since the merger with Sirius, I’ve seen my plan increase to $12.95/month. A few days ago I received an “Important Information About Your XM” email from XM Radio saying that my monthly rate will increase by $1.98/month for a “U.S. Music Royalty Fee.” (I guess they didn’t make it $2.00 because they thought I would notice the increase.) So, now it will cost almost $15/month for a service that has increased 50
